President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated the water and sewerage system developed at GDh. Hoadedhdhoo.
The President inaugurated the water and sewerage system during a ceremony held at Hoadedhdhoo on Tuesday morning as part of his ongoing tour of Huvadhoo Atoll.
The project initiated during the former administration was funded by Line of Credit from India’s Exim Bank. The project was contracted to India’s Triveni Engineering and Industries Limited.
A total of five sewerage pumps have been established at Hoadedhdhoo as part of the project. Two RO plants capable of producing 75 tons of water per day and two water storage have also been installed at the island under the project.
During the ceremony, an agreement was executed between Hoadedhdhoo Council and the national bank, Bank of Maldives (BML), for the establishment of an ATM on the island.
Speaking with Hoadedhdhoo residents, President Muizzu affirmed that his administration will actively work to fulfill the promises made to the people of the islands and the commitments outlined in the manifesto.
He also assured the attended that his administration would undertake efforts to carefully address the various issues facing Hoadedhdhoo. He noted that housing and road construction, following education, would be prioritized in the Public Sector Investment Program (PSIP) projects this year. The President also committed to fulfilling the promise of developing the Hoadedhdhoo road within this year.
Moreover, he emphasized that finding a permanent solution for beach erosion and swell wave surges in Hoandehdhoo will be included in this year's budget.
He also underscored the importance of advancing education and health sectors, stating that efforts will be made to establish various sports facilities on the island.
The President, in his ongoing tour, will visit five islands in South Huvadhoo Atoll (Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll): Hoadedhdhoo, Nadella, Vaadhoo Fiyoari, and Rathafandhoo, as well as four islands in North Huvadhoo Atoll (Gaafu Alifu Atoll): Kanduhulhudhoo, Nilandhoo, Maamendhoo, and Dhevvadhoo.
