Fenaka takes over management of Ungoofaaru powerhouse

The powerhouse in R. Ungoofaaru – previously managed by the residents of the island – has been handed over to Fenaka Corporation.

The powerhouse in Ungoofaaru had been run by the residents of the island for the last 24 years.

The powerhouse was handed over to Fenaka in a special ceremony on Wednesday. The ceremony was attended by Planning Minister Mohamed Aslam and Environment Minister Aminath Shauna.

Fenaka said the decision to hand over the powerhouse to the corporation signified the faith Ungoofaaru residents had in their modern and sustainable services.

Fenaka said it has brought in a new 800 kilowatt generator to ensure uninterrupted electricity to the island.
