Man who spat at court master jailed over another instance of contempt of court

The man who spat at a court master working in the Criminal Court, has been sentenced to 15 days in prison over another instance of contempt of court.

Ahmed Solih, Kelaage, Fuvahmulah City, was first sentenced to jail for contempt of court on August 7. He was sentenced to 15 days in prison back then, for repeated violations of the court etiquette. When security had warned Solih to refrain from such violations, he spat at a court master.

Solih was held in contempt of court when he was presented before the court four days later. When presented before the court on August 11, Solih, who is charged with damaging government property, had spoken in foul language and left courtroom midway.

Therewith, Judge Ahmed Shakeel had sentenced him to additional 15 days in prison for contempt of court.
