1,139 of Maldives National University (MNU)’s newest graduates have received their certificates.
The graduates received their certificates in a convocation ceremony held on Saturday and Sunday.
The highest number of graduates were from the Nursing School. 427 students graduated from the school. They included 418 female students and nine male students.
The second highest number of graduates were from Faculty of Education. 185 students graduated from the Faculty of Education. They included 152 female students and 33 male students.
Meanwhile, 121 students graduated from Faculty of Sharia and Law. They included 76 female students and 45 male students.
GRADUATES BY FACULTY:
Faculty of Arts: 49 graduates
Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology: 63 graduates
Faculty of Health Sciences: 73 graduates
Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies: 41 graduates
MNU Business School: 108 graduates
Center for Maritime Studies: one graduate
Center for Foundation Studies: 68 graduates
12 graduates received the presidential award for topping their courses, and 77 received the distinction award.
Speaking at the convocation ceremony, former Prosecutor General Ahmed Muizzu said educated individuals were respected in Maldivian society, which also had certain expectations of them.
“Society believes educated individuals must be fair. That they must make decisions without any bias. That they must always speak justly,” he said.
Muizzu advised the graduates to practice such virtues.
The MNU is the largest government educational institute in Maldives.
