Request lodged with Pres. to issue 1000 land plots for Male’ residents from Hulhumale’ for free

Male’ City Mayor Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has sent a letter to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih requesting the issuance of 1000 land plots for Male’ residents for free.

Whilst delivering this year’s presidential address at the Parliament, President Solih revealed the government’s plans to issue land plots to permanent residents of Male’ from the Greater Male’ Region; being 1,000 land plots from Hulhumale’, at least 2,000 land plots from Gulhifalhu and 2,000 land plots from the land which will be reclaimed at Giraavaru lagoon.

Mayor Muizzu said that Male’ residents should be entitled to receive land plots for free, in the manner residents from other islands do.

“The 1000 land plots to be issued to Male’ residents from Hulhumale’ as per media reports. Should this be legitimate, have officially requested the President via a letter to issue the land plots Male’ residents for free, just as residents from other islands get,” he had said.

Mayor Muizzu did not disclose any additional information regarding the letter. His unavailability for an immediate comment has rendered Sun being unable to procure any further details regarding the matter.
