Resolution on problems facing school in Naifaru sent to committee for review

A resolution submitted by Naifaru MP Ahmed Shiyam seeking solutions to the issues facing Madhrasathul Ifthithaah – a school in Lh. Naifaru – has been accepted into the Parliament, and sent to the National Development and Heritage Committee for review.

The resolution was accepted into the Parliament with the vote of 36 parliamentarians on Wednesday afternoon.

In his resolution, the PPM deputy leader urged state authorities to solve the issues facing Madhrasathul Ifthithaah as soon as possible, in order to improve the efficiency of the management of the school, as well as the quality of education offered at the school.

The resolution highlights 18 issues, including lack of electricity at the school’s new building, shortage of furniture, poor condition of tables and chairs at the school, and loss to students and teachers.

The resolution also noted lack of printing facilities at the school, lack of internet, and lack of science lab.

Presenting his resolution, Shiyam stressed that Madhrasathul Ifthithaah was one of the oldest schools in Maldives outside of Male’. He said that the issues facing the school was having a negative impact on the education of students.

He said that while the individual issues may be minor, it needed immediate addressing.

At the preliminary debate on the resolution earlier Wednesday, multiple parliamentarians, including those from MDP, spoke of the need to solve the issues facing the school.
