Delayed salary given to health care workers

Ministry of Health stated that the delayed salary for some of the health care workers has now been deposited.

As per law, salary for civil service workers should be deposited by the first of every month. However, some health workers were raising concerns due to delays almost a week into the month of February.

Speaking about the issue, the Information Officer of the Health Ministry Fathimath Shuba said that they have finished giving salaries to all the workers. She also added that they have not received any official complaints regarding the matter.

“We asked to submit complaints if there are any issues with salary. We have not received any complaints.”

The Health Ministry is responsible for sending out payments for regional hospitals, health centres and health posts.

On the 1st of February, the Health Ministry stated that delays in depositing salary for health workers were due to the entire Human Resource Department of the ministry testing positive COVID-19.

Employees from the various health centres as well as those working at IGMH and Health Protection Agency also experienced salary delays this time. According to Finance Ministry, the salary for IGMH and HPA was not yet deposited due to delays in sending the salary sheet.
