The Minister of Health Dr. Abdulla Nazim on Saturday has said, that by the end of September this year each atoll will have a minimum of one dialysis center.

He confirmed this in an interview with PSM, and said that the public has requested from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to facilitate dialysis services in areas with high number of kidney patients.

"The first thing we aimed was establishing dialysis centers across all the atolls. By the end of September, all the atolls will have a minimum of one dialysis center," Nazim said.

The minister also said that the government will he expanding dialysis services in areas with higher number of patients across the Maldives. He said the government intends on resolving major concerns of the public.

Dialysis services have not begun in five atolls, which are Alif Alif, Alif Dhaal, Vaavu, Faafu, and Dhaal atolls.

While the government has announced plans of developing dialysis centers across all the atolls, it has recently contracted MedTech for the development of a 30-bed dialysis center in Hulhumale' Hospital. The project will be completed in 90 days.

Last September, the Ministry of Health had issued a standard for dialysis centers to improve their services which governs the adequate standards of the facilities that provide dialysis services. It also aims to standardize the services across all the centers.
