Higher Education Ministry has announced their decision to issue student loans for those undertaking their Master’s degree in Maldives.
At a press conference held by the Higher Education Ministry today, Higher Education Minister Dr. Ibrahim Hassan noted that there were many students in the Maldives, currently undertaking their Master’s degree.
Subsequent to many students undertaking their Master’s degree in the Maldives – Minister Ibrahim Hassan said that the government has decided to issue student loans for them in order to ease their financial burdens.
“We created this opportunity because a lot of students are studying their Master’s degree in Maldives. The COVID-19 pandemic has posed many obstructions for students to go abroad for their studies,” he had said.
In addition to this, Higher Education Ministry has opened applications for 720 student loans, after slashing the interest taken in the form of administrative fee.
It includes 417 opportunities for new students and 303 opportunities for students already enrolled in courses.
Minister Ibrahim Hassan said that tudents currently enrolled in courses under the free degree program can also apply for student loan. He said that it was a change made to allow students to cover additional expenses, outside of course fee.
Meanwhile, 40 slots have been reserved for MBBS students in Maldives.
The deadline for applications is 01:00 pm on March 3.
