Maldivian Aviation Academy opens

The Maldivian Aviation Academy, established by Island Aviation and the Maldives National University (MNU), opened on Tuesday. 

The opening ceremony was attended by Vice President Faisal Naseem, Transport Minister Aishath Nahula, and top officials from Island Aviation and MNU. 

The academy will be operated by a top aviation academy from Czech Republic. 

Speaking at the ceremony, Island Aviation’s Managing Director Mohamed Mihad said the academy will be run in Addu City, and that enrollment is now open. 

He said that special priority will be given to students from Asian Academy of Aeronautics whose courses were disrupted for various reasons. 

Mihad said the opening of the Maldivian Aviation Academy will create an educated and experienced workforce, which will assist Island Aviation achieve its objectives. 

Mihad said the first course the academy will offer is a two-month refresher program.  

He thanked President Ibrahim Mohamed Solh for his support in starting the academy.
