Police-MNDF commences joint operation

Maldives Police Service and Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) started a special operation to tighten security measures with the Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s ongoing state visit to Maldives.

The joint press statement released by both authorities requested public cooperation and assistance towards their operation to heighten security.

Four areas in the green zone will be closed off from morning 07:00 am till 14:00 pm in the afternoon.

These areas are:

-         Independence Square (Jumhooree Maidhaan) area

-         President’s Office area

-         Hotel Jen area

-         Parliament building area

However, no additional details regarding the nature of this operation were disclosed.

Sheikh Hasina arrived in Maldives on Wednesday, 22 December and will return after concluding her visit on 27 December, Monday.

During her visit, she is scheduled to meet the Maldivian state officials and even address at the Parliament.
