Yellow alert for torrential rain over southern Maldives

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued yellow alert for southern Maldives, warning of torrential rain and thunderstorms.  

The yellow alert is in effect from 09:30 hours to 13:30 hours this Sunday, for the area from L. Atoll to Addu City. 

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the area will be affected by torrential rain and thunderstorms with gust winds of 40 miles per hour. 

The service expects the bad weather in southern Maldives to prevail over the next 24 hours. 

Seafarers have been advised to be cautious.
