IGMH nurse’s body brought back to Maldives after postmortem

The Filipino couple, Mary Grace (L) and Marvin (R) worked as nurses at IGMH.

The body of Mary Grace, a Filipino nurse at Indhira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) who died under suspicious circumstances in October, has been brought back to Maldives from India after postmortem examinations.

Maldives Police Service said that efforts were currently underway to hand over the body to Grace’s family.

Grace’s body was sent to India for post mortem examinations last Monday.

The death of Mary Grace, who worked as a nurse at IGMH’s Dialysis Center, had initially been reported as a case of suicide by hanging on October 19.

Her dead body was taken to the hospital by her husband, Marvin, a Filipino nurse who also works at IGMH.

According to a credible source, the husband told the hospital staff that his wife committed suicide by hanging herself, and then later changed his story said that she suddenly collapsed.

The police found the death suspicious and opened an investigation into the case. Later on, the police announced that they had arrested Marvin in connection to his wife’s death.

Police have confiscated the mobile phone of another nurse at IGMH – a Maldivian woman who Marvin was allegedly having an affair with – for their investigation into the death.
