Kuwait company to open an international school in Hulhumale’

Maldivian Education Ministry has signed an agreement with Kuwait’s Al Jeri Holding Group to develop and manage a bilingual international school in suburban Hulhumale’. 

The agreement was signed by Education Minister Dr. Aishath Ali and Al Jeri Holding Group’s Chairman Talal Khalifa Al-Jeri at the Education Ministry headquarters in Male’ earlier this Wednesday. 

The school, which will be built in Hulhumale’ Phase I, will have classes from foundation stage to grade 12. The school is an English-medium school and will also teach the Arabic language. 

The construction of the school will be carried out in two phases. According to Al Jeri Holding Group, the first phase will be complete and the school partially reopened in time for the academic new year 2022, and the second phase will be complete in time for the academic new year 2023. 

Education Ministry estimates the school will accommodate some 1,200 students. 

The construction of the school will be contracted to a Maldivian company. 

Al Jeri Holding Group currently runs 20 international schools in Kuwait. The company’s Chairman, Talal Kalifa Al-Jeri is a renowned businessman in the Arab world.
