Elections Commission has granted approval to conduct necessary work to register National Solidarity Party (NSP) - a new political party led by Abdulla Kamaluddin (AK).
Elections Commission member Fuad Thaufeeq told Sun on Tuesday morning that Abdulla Kamaluddin has been sent a formal letter granting him permission, and the party no longer faces any barrier to conducting registration work.
“They will now need to apply after securing 3,000 members,” he said.
EC had rejected Abdulla Kamaluddin’s original bid to register NSP back in July citing failure to meet criteria, as his name remained on the Maldives Reform Movement (MRM)’s register even after he left the party.
Following the rejection of his original bid, Abdulla Kamaluddin told Sun he does not believe he should be denied his rights because MRM failed to fulfil its responsibilities and remove his name from the party register.
Elections Commission also recently granted permission to form Maldives National Party (MNP) - a party led by Dhangedhi MP Colonel (Retired) Mohamed Nazim.
