State Electric Company (STELCO) has announced it is working on energizing the Greater Male’ Power Grid, and that it may result in power disruptions in Male’ City and suburban Hulhumale’.
STELCO said the work on energizing the Greater Male’ Power Grid will be carried out on Saturday, Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday.
The company said the work this Saturday will be carried out from 08:00-17:00 hours, and that power disruptions are possible in Hulhumale’ during that time.
STELCO will synchronize the grid with the Male’ powerhouse on Sunday.
On Wednesday, the company will work on energizing the second circuit of the grid between 08:00-17:00 hours, during which time power disruptions are possible in Male’ and Hulhumale’.
And on Thursday, the company is scheduled to energize the Hulhumale’ substation.
The Greater Male’ Power Grid links the power network in Male’, Hulhumale’ and Hulhule’ with two 7-kilometer 132 KV circuits. STELCO has also installed four 95 MVA transformers in Male’ and Hulhumale’, and two 8 MVA transformers in Hulhule’ under the project.
Each circuit has the capacity to generate 100 megawatts of power.
