Bullets found in tourist’s luggage at Velana International Airport

Police are investigating a case involving a tourist who was carrying bullets in his luggage at the Velana International Airport in Male’.

Police identified the tourist as a 60-year-old Namibian male.

The case was reported to the police at 09:52 am this Saturday.

“Police are conducting necessary inquiries in connection to this case,” said a police spokesperson.

The tourist had been at the airport to take a flight out of Maldives.

Police have not commented on whether they believe the tourist had smuggled the bullets into Maldives, or got them after he arrived in the country.

The tourist is being questioned by the police.
