Spokesperson of the President’s Office Mohamed Mabrook Azeez has stated that the government will soon direct all resorts to make permanent arrangements for COVID-19 testing at the property.

Speaking at a press conference held at the President’s Office today, Mabrook stressed on the importance of permanent COVID-19 testing arrangements at resorts under a set guideline.

“Resorts will soon be directed to make permanent arrangements for COVID-19 testing at the property under a set guideline – which can be done by the management themselves or by contracting a third party,” he said.

Mabrook further explained that the purpose of mandating COVID-19 testing at resorts is as resort workers have recently been permitted to travel to their respective islands subject to certain rules.

In this regard, fully vaccinated resort workers are now permitted to travel to their islands with a negative PCR test without having to quarantine.

Moreover, South Asian tourists will be permitted at resorts starting from July 15.
