President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has announced plans to set up a Citizens’ Complaints Bureau at the President’s Office, which will be open around-the-clock to citizens who wish to raise their grievances.
He made the announcement on Thursday while delivering his annual address to the Parliament.
Delivering his address, President Muizzu said he wishes to ensure his administration listens to citizens as closely as possible.
He announced plans to establish a Citizens’ Complaints Bureau at the President’s Office, which he described as a key measure on that front.
He said the Bureau will be operational 24/7.
According to President Muizzu, the main purpose of the Bureau is to manage complaints raised via social media, letter and other mediums through a digital system, obtain information about the complaints and provide responses.
He plans to use Artificial Intelligence to manage complaints.
“This Bureau will have a state-of-the-art automated Artificial Intelligence system to use Artificial Intelligence to manage the complaints,” he said.
He said the system will record all complaints submitted to the government through various platforms and track it until responses are made.
President Muizzu said the Bureau will also have a call center that will be open 24/7.
He vowed to respond to complaints made against each and every government institution and hold them accountable.
President Muizzu said that instead of hiring new staff for the Bureau, he plans on having appropriate staff transferred from the President’s Office and other government institutions and provided necessary training.
He hopes to have the Bureau up and running in five months.
Other initiatives introduced by the government aimed at boosting engagement with the public includes the ‘Ahaa’ forum and the ‘Raeesge Javaabu’ series.
