Authorities imposed travel restrictions in G. Dh. Thinadhoo on Sunday, after a person linked with the COVID-19 outbreak in Addu City tested positive for the virus.
The person who tested positive in Thinadhoo travelled from Addu on February 3, and is a contact of a confirmed case in the city.
Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) confirms Thinadhoo is now under monitoring. Travel in and out of the island has been temporarily suspended.
Health authorities have begun random sampling in Thinadhoo to detect a possible outbreak.
