Indian budget airline IndiGo has increased the frequency of flights between Male’ and Bangalore, and introduced a special fare for Maldivians who travel to India for medical consultations.
IndiGo, which currently operates three weekly flights between Male’ and Bangalore, will be operating daily flights between the two cities starting February 1.
IndiGo operates between Male’ and four Indian cities; Bangalore, Mumbai, Cochin, and New Delhi.
The budget carrier operates daily flights between Male’ and Mumbai, and four weekly flights between Male’ and Cochin, as well as Male’ and New Delhi.
Bangalore is a top destination for scores of Maldivians who travel to India for medical needs and higher education.
Four Indian airlines travel between Maldives and India under the air travel bubble established between the two countries back in August 2020.
India is a key source market for tourist arrivals to Maldives, topping the list of source markets in 2020 with 62,905 visitors.
