COVID-19: ADK Hospital closes HDU after 3 patients test positive

ADK Hospital in Male’ has temporarily closed its High Dependency Unit (HDU) after three patients who were recently discharged after treatment at the unit tested positive for COVID-19.

In a press conference on Monday evening, Health Emergency Operations Center (HEOC) spokesperson Dr. Nazla Rafeeq said that the health authorities have initiated contact tracing in connection to the cases.

The HDU has been temporarily closed for disinfection, and all hospitalized patients at the ADK, and all staff members who worked in the HDU, and all staff members who had contact will patients have been tested.

“No one has tested positive, as of yet. All staff members who had contact are in quarantine. We are working with ADK to further monitor the outbreak,” said Nazla.

She said that while the HDU may be temporarily closed, the hospital will continue providing other services with the necessary protective measures.
