The police intervened on Saturday, after a fight broke out among migrant workers in Rah Falhu Huraa 4, a tourist development project in K. Atoll.
The unrest was reported to the authorities at approximately 01:20 pm on Saturday, prompting the police to dispatch a team to the island to control the situation.
“Findings by the police so far indicate the unrest took place due to resentment over instructions by the management to the workers to follow specific guidelines to maintain preventive measures implemented in the island in light of the COVID-19 situation,” said a police spokesperson.
The police have controlled the unrest and are conducting further investigation into the case.
