Tourism Ministry’s Permanent Secretary Aishath Susan Haneef, who was placed under suspension by the Civil Service Commission in September, has tendered her resignation.

Following Susan’s resignation, Civil Service Commission has opened applications for a Permanent Secretary for the Tourism Ministry.

Applications will remain open until November 19.

Susan was placed under suspension by the Civil Service Commission on September 17, in light of financial irregularities uncovered in an audit on Tourism Ministry’s COVID-19 spending and a complaint lodged against her by 26 Tourism Ministry employees with the commission.

The employees who lodged the complaint accused Susan of incompetency, gross negligence in matters pertaining to the rights of employees, as well as workplace discrimination and favoritism.
