Maldives has held discussions with Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) on avenues for sustainable growth of its tourism sector.
The discussions took place during meeting between Minister of Tourism and Environment Ibrahim Thoriq and Visit Maldives Corporation’s Chairperson Abdulla Giyas Riyaz and PATA’s CEO Noor Ahmad Hamid on the sidelines of World Travel Market (WTM) London 2025.
Minister Thoriq, in a post on X about the meeting, said the discussions focused on strategies to build resilience in the tourism sector and on exploring avenues for sustainable growth.

According to the Tourism Ministry, one of the main goals of the meeting is to prepare for potential challenges in the tourism industry and to develop strategies that promote the sector’s sustainability. This includes adopting eco-friendly tourism practices and prioritizing social development.
The meeting also focused on strengthening cooperation with PATA to promote sustainable development within the Maldivian tourism sector. Both parties expressed interest in continuing such discussions, which the Ministry said are expected to further advance tourism development in the Maldives.
