Parliament approves appointing Ibrahim Shaheeb as High Commissioner to Singapore

The Parliament has voted in approval of appointing Ibrahim Shaheeb, the Chief of Protocol of Foreign Ministry, as the new Maldivian High Commissioner to Singapore.

The position of Maldivian High Commissioner to Singapore fell vacant after the previous ambassador, Dr. Abdulla Mausoom, was appointed as the new Tourism Minister.

Ibrahim Shaheeb, who has experience serving in multiple positions within the Foreign Ministry, secured the backing of the Parliament with the 58 votes during the parliamentary sitting on Sunday afternoon.

Ibrahim Shaheeb has served as an Additional Secretary at the Foreign Ministry, as a Director at the Foreign Ministry, and as a Permanent Secretary at the Home Ministry.

He has also served as the First Secretary, and Acting High Commissioner at the Maldivian High Commission in Singapore, and in positions in various diplomatic missions overseas.

Ibrahim Shaheeb has a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and International Relations, and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration.
