The Parliament has voted in approval of appointing Mohamed Nasih as president, and Ibrahim Rasheed as vice president of Civil Service Commission (CSC).

Mohamed Nasih and Ibrahim Rasheed are among four new members appointed to CSC on Thursday. Their appointments were approved by the Parliament on Monday.

The Parliament, during a sitting on Sunday afternoon, voted in favor of appointing Mohamed Nasih as the president of CSC, and Ibrahim Rasheed as the vice president. They received 68 votes.

Civil Service Commission Act states that the president and vice president of CSC will be appointed by the President, in accordance with counsel from the Parliament.

The motion to appoint Mohamed Nasih as president of CSC was presented by deputy leader of MDP parliamentary group, South Henveiru MP Hussain Shaheem (Andhun Hussain), and seconded by Kelaa MP Ibrahim Shareef.

Meanwhile, the motion to appoint Ibrahim Rasheed as vice president of CSC was also presented by Shaheem, and seconded by Baarah MP Ahmed Abdulla.

CSC’s new members Mohamed Nasih, Ibrahim Rasheed, Mohamed Farushath and Fathimath Shareef fill the vacancies left in the wake of the resignation of CSC’s former president Dr. Ali Shameem, former vice president Shaheed Mohamed and former member Zakariyya Hussain, and the impeachment of former member Ibrahim Shaheeq in July.
