Malay flight postponed at students’ request

A special flight from Maldives to Malaysian capital Kuala Lumpur, originally scheduled for September 10, has been rescheduled to September 20.

Malaysia hosts a sizable population of Maldivian students, many of whom returned to Maldives following closure of universities amidst the coronavirus pandemic.

The coronavirus situation in Malaysia has since improved, and the country’s universities are scheduled to resume classes soon.

Students have begun returning to Malaysia.

The national airline, Maldivian Airlines, scheduled a special flight to Kuala Lumpur for students on September 10.

The airline announced this Saturday that the flight has been rescheduled to September 20 at the request of students.

A one-way ticket for the flight is USD 385. Those who need to undergo 14-day quarantine are required to bear the cost of quarantine themselves.
