Yellow alert for thunderstorms from Th. Atoll to Addu

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued yellow alert for islands in southern Maldives, warning of torrential rain and thunderstorms.

The yellow alert is in effect from 11:45 am to 04:00 pm this Saturday, for Th. Atoll, L. Atoll, G. A. Atoll, G. Dh. Atoll, Fuvahmulah City and Addu City.

Maldives Meteorological Service forecasts the region will be affected by torrential rain and thunderstorms with gusts of 50 miles per hour.

Meanwhile, Maldives Meteorological Service has also issued a white alert for strong winds of 19 to 24 miles per hour and guest of 45 miles per hour with rough seas for northern and central Maldives.

The white alert is in effect from H. A. Atoll to D. Atoll, from noon to 04:00 pm.

Swell waves surges of four to seven feet are expected during high tide.

Maldives Meteorological Service has advised caution.
