Online classes to continue for next 2 weeks in Male' City

Schools in Male' City will be conducted online for another two weeks due to the current situation with COVID-19, the Education Ministry has stated.

A tweet by the Ministry today read that the decision came after discussions with health authorities. 

Physical classes are currently being held for Grades 11, 12 students in Male' City. These students will be exempted from online classes.

The Maldives first closed its schools due to COVID-19 in March after which, virtual online classes and teleclasses were held. 

Schools were recommenced for Grades 9 and above in July after the country saw a significant drop in case numbers. However, as the situation changed and a second wave was experienced in the nation, the Ministry decided to close schools once again.

The Maldives has so far confirmed 8,140 cases of COVID-19.
