72 MWSC employees awarded flats

72 employees of the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been awarded flats from the housing schemes awarded for state-owned company employees. 

During an online press conference, MWSC Managing Director Hassan Shah said that the company was targeting to finish work on one of the two flats under construction for the employees of the company. 

Two 15 floor towers were awarded for construction to the company by the government.

“We have now begun work to complete one of the 15-floor towers. The project is run by the cashflow finance of MWSC. The structure of the project is now complete.” Said Shah.

The project is contracted to a Chinese company.

“Work on the project is now completed by 55 to 60 percent.” Said Shah. 

The company stated that 72 employees of the company were awarded flats after being evaluated. Applications for the flats were still available for employees. 

Shah also noted that the flats were being built in a prime location in Hulhumale’ phase 2 and that the apartments were very spacious. Discussions were also underway with financial institutions for convenient arrangements for employees that are awarded the flats.

Employees will be able to move into the flats by June next year, according to MWSC. Construction on the second tower will be based on the demand for the first tower.
