Some of the tenants of 'Gedhoruveriya' flats report receiving unusually high water bills.
Some of the residents of the Amaan Udhares towers, who moved into the first of the 4,000 units built in Hulhumale’ Phase II under the ‘Gedhoruveriya’ social housing scheme, have expressed concern over the water bills being unusually high.
Some of the tenants, who moved into one of the Amaan Ushares towers in November, have said that they have been asked to pay over MVR 7,000 for water.
Male’ Water and Sewerage Services (MWSC)’s Managing Director Abdul Matheen told Sun that the state utility service has yet to receive an official complaint regarding this.
But Matheen said the company will be looking into the matter.
Matheen said that unusually high water bills could indicate issues with wiring works.
He said that it is therefore important to check for any such issue.
The Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC), which developed the ‘Gedhoruveriya’ flats, was not immediately available for comment.
Residents of Amaan Udhares towers, as well as residents of Male’, have been taking to social media to express concern over the high utility bill.
