HPA to take stricter approach for violation of safety guidelines

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has stated that a stricter approach would be taken towards establishments in Male’ City that serve customers in violation of safety guidelines.

The agency warned that it will be increasing fines on such establishments. An inspection is scheduled by the HPA and other government agencies for Tuesday to check whether establishments are operating in adherence with HPA guidelines. 

HPA said that the establishment will be closed for 48-hours following the first violation and a fine of MVR 1,000 and closure for three days for a repeat violation. 

A mass inspection by HPA after the initial easements to the lockdown on Male’ City saw 258 establishments including restaurants, cafes, spas, markets, and gyms fined by health authorities.
