VIA records 764 air traffic movements since border reopening

Maldives Airports Company Limited has announced that the Velana International Airport (VIA) recorded 764 air traffic movements in the one month since the Maldives reopened its borders after the COVID-19 lockdown. 

From July 15 to August 15, VIA recorded 399 international movements along with 365 domestic movements. Domestic arrivals at the airport were recorded at 3,480 while departures numbered at 4,323.

A total of 7,607 international arrivals were recorded at VIA while 9,262 departures were also recorded. 

International travel was recommenced on July 15. Air traffic movement had been on the rise before the lockdown and COVID-19 situation in the nation.

The country recorded 811 traffic movement in a single day on January 7 alone.
