1 injured in fire at Velana International Airport

A fire inside took place at Velana International Airport on Monday, leaving one worker injured.

Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) reports the fire took place at approximately 06:15 pm in the sea plane fuel storage depot located in the eastern side of the airport.

One worker sustained burn injuries in the incident.

According to MACL, the fire was quickly extinguished by the Maldives Airport Rescue and Firefighting Service.

MACL’s safety department has launched an internal investigation into the fire.
