Former Vice President Abdulla Jihaadh and former Finance Minister Ahmed Munavvaru has been summoned to the parliament’s Whole House Committee.
Jihaadh was summoned to the parliament since he served as the Finance Minister during the former administration. Munavvaru succeeded Jihaadh to the post after the latter was appointed as Vice President.
Other than the two, current Finance Minister Ibrahim Ameer and Auditor General Hassan Ziyath was also summoned to the parliament.
They were summoned after the Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed levied allegations of negligence against the former administration and Minister Ameer in the handling of state debt.
The Speaker requested the advice and recommendations of MPs because of the lack of clarity in state debt between 2013 and 2018 and that the handling of debt is still not being carried out in accordance with the relevant laws.
MP for Maradhoo requested to summon the four and was passed unanimously with the vote of 57 MPs in attendance.
