Parliament sessions scheduled just two days after virus case

The Parliament has decided to hold tomorrow's sitting in the Majlis building, despite the testing of an employee of the parliament as positive for COVID-19 recently.

Several staffers were isolated after the positive test after which the parliament was placed under monitoring mechanisms. The employee, who is a maintenance staff had tested positive for the virus just two days ago.

A session of the parliament has been scheduled for 9:00 tomorrow. The agenda for tomorrow states that the ministerial questioning session of Islamic Minister Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali is to be conducted tomorrow.

The Minister is to be questioned regarding the Maaveyo Mosque that recently completed renovation.

Parliament has announced that all safety measures will be undertaken during the sitting. The building has been thoroughly disinfected and contact tracing for the employee was also completed due to the positive case.

The secretariat of the parliament had said that it was prepared for such a situation since recommencing work and that despite the positive case, it was targeting to hold regular sessions.
