Maldives Police Service, on Tuesday, arrested two men suspect of the repeated sexual abuse of a 16-year-old boy in northern Maldives.
According to the police, the North Police Division received report of a young boy being harassed on Thursday, June 4.
The police launched an investigation into the case, and found the young boy had been exposed to sexual abuse on multiple occasions over a prolonged period of time.
The police arrested two suspects in connection to the case on Tuesday.
The suspects were identified as a 28-year-old Maldivian male and a 37-year-old Maldivian male.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
The police have stressed that sexual offenses against children are treated by the agency as serious crimes, and urge against the spread of any information which could reveal the identity of child victims.
