Quran teacher arrested for abuse of students

A Quran subject tutor in a northern island of the Maldives has been arrested under suspicion of abusing his students.

Police said that the man ran a Quran subject class in a northern island of the Maldives. The man is accused of molesting his underage students. The case wwas reported to Police last Saturday.

The case involved a 28-year old local male who was arrested yesterday under a court order. 

He is to be detained in a location specified by the Ministry of Home Affairs for 15 days when the investigation is conducted.
