All permits issued to the public to go outdoors for various different purposes during the lockdown order on the capital will have to be made through the Police portal from now on.

Previously some permits were also issued by the Economic Ministry and Male’ City Council.

A press conference held at the National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC), saw the Registrar of Companies Mariyam Wisaam announce that starting from tomorrow, all such permits previously applied through the Economic Ministry and City Council are to be applied through the Police portal.

“Previously, businesses that wished to open up, had to apply to the Ministry, However, starting from tomorrow, new applications have to be submitted through the Police portal.” Said Wisaam.

Previously submitted applications for which permits were issued will not have to be resubmitted again, said Wisaam. Applications that have not yet received permits are to be resubmitted to the portal, according to the Registrar.

Regarding the reason for this change, Wisaam said that the decision was made by the COVID-19 taskforce to resolve some confusion and errors.
