Ninth case of Covid-19 confirmed from Male' City

The Health Protection Agency has confirmed a ninth case of the Covid-19 from Male' City.

Health Protection Agency in a tweet on its official account stated that the ninth case of the virus in Male’ City (Patient 29) is a direct contact of Patient 27, the seventh case to be confirmed in Male’ City.

The authorities have previously stated that there were three clusters of the virus in the capital, which is in lockdown after the confirmed cases. 

Patient 27 and Patient 28 were not linked to any other positive cases in the capital before they were tested positive. The two cases were confirmed late last night, April 17. The individuals had tested positive after consulting with the flu clinic established in Male’ City. Sun has confirmed that Patient 27 is an employee at the Velana International Airport.

Authorities are still working to determine exactly how Patient 21 (the first case of the virus in the capital) was infected with the virus. It has still not been confirmed who “Patient 0” or the index case in Male’ City is. Patient 22, a toddler, has also tested positive for the virus and later identified as the child of Patient 21. Patient 23 was in direct contact with Patient 21. Patient 24, Patient 25 and Patient 26 are all direct contacts of Patient 23.

Patient 29 is being moved to an isolation facility by the authorities, read the tweet by HPA.
