Communications Authority advises against installing repeaters, signal boosters

The Communications Authority of Maldives (CAM) has advised people not to install repeaters and signal boosters.

CAM stated that it was noticed that people were installing such devices to increase mobile signals and noted that such actions resulted in difficulties for others. CAM noted that the devices may increase signal in the area but weaken signal for the surrounding area, leading the authority to advise against the installation of such devices.

The authority also stated that discussions with service providers were underway who would assist in resolving such signal issues when reported.
