National Airline Maldivian last night evacuated 188 locals who were left stranded in Kochi, India due to the closure of airports in the country amid the pandemic virus.
Many locals were left stranded in the city after the country halted air travel on March 22 due to the virus.
Government spokesperson Mabrouq Azeez stated that 188 locals included 117 who had obtained tickets previously which were later canceled and 71 locals who were in the city for medical purposes.
The government was still working on evacuating locals from countries. 100 locals in Sri Lanka were also evacuated earlier yesterday by Maldivian.
All of those evacuated will be placed in quarantine for period of 14-days.
