Man arrested for sexual abuse of 13-year-old girl

Maldives Police Service, on Saturday, arrested a suspect in connection to the sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl in central Maldives.

According to the police, the crime was reported to the North Central Police Division on Saturday, and the suspect, identified as a 21-year-old Maldivian male, was placed under arrest the same day.

The case is under further investigation by the police.

Maldives Police Service has stressed that sexual offenses against children are treated by the agency as serious crimes, and urge against the spread of any information which could reveal the identity of child victims.
