Tourism Minister Ali Waheed has once again branded the audios of him leaked online as fake and called for an investigation into him to clear up the issues.
A Twitter account under the name “MV leaks” has released a series of audios purportedly of conversations between Tourism Minister Ali Waheed and his longtime friend Youth Ministry’s State Minister Assad Ali.
The Tourism Minister maintained that the audios were not legit and called for an investigation to clear up the issues stemming from the audios. The Minister described the audios as a scheme and a disgraceful crime. The Minister has also described the audio as an attempt to kill his dignity.
Another audio of a discussion between the State Minister and Minister Ali Waheed was leaked online last night.
Two people are heard speaking about the former President and current Speaker of the Parliament Mohamed Nasheed and the purported voice of Tourism Minister Ali Waheed is heard requesting the State Minister Ali Waheed to call the MP for Nolivaram Mohamed Nasheed Abdulla who is a vocal critic of the Speaker in the Parliament. The MP is described as a man speaking without any shame. The purpose of the phone call is not evident from the leaked audio.
The conversation then shifts to Transport Minister Aishath Nahula. The previously leaked audio conversation is also heard speaking about Minister Nahula.
The voice, allegedly belonging to Tourism Minister Ali Waheed is heard making derogatory comments towards Minister Nahula from the fifth such audio leaked by the Twitter account last night. The audio follows another audio leaked on the previous night which follows a similar topic of derogatory comments centered around Minister Nahula.
In that audio, the Tourism Minister is heard romantically speaking with Minister Nahula and even requests Minister Nahula to meet him. After the call ends, State Minister Assad Ali and Minister Ali Waheed are heard laughing and making disrespectful comments towards Minister Nahula.
State Minister Assad Ali has also stated that the audios are fake and were leaked to influence the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) elections. Assad Ali has stated that the audios were an attempt at blackmail.
