Records released by Finance Ministry show state travel expenses exceed MVR 14.8 million over the budgeted figure.
The latest weekly state expenditure report released by Finance Ministry place the budgeted travel expenditure for 2019 at MVR 142.1 million.
However, the state spent MVR 156.9 million on travel expenses by October 17 – MVR 14.8 above the budgeted figure.
Meanwhile, the state has spent 835.7 million out of the MVR 1 billion budgeted for Aasandha health insurance – listed as a recurrent expenditure - for the year.
The projected state budget for the year is MVR 31.9 billion; out of which MVR 20.9 billion has been spent so far – MVR 15.1 billion of which was on recurrent expenditure, and MVR 4.9 billion of which was on capital expenditure.
