Environment Ministry begins efforts to save turtle found cruelly tied up

Environment Ministry and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have begun efforts to save a turtle that was found cruelly bound on an uninhabited island in R. Atoll.

The Ministry stated that the turtle was found R. Ungulu, which lies between Ifuru and Ungoofaaru by an Environment Ministry team that visited the island for a survey.

The turtle is a protected animal in the Maldives under the environment protection laws of the country. Harming turtles in any manner and damaging their habitats in the Maldives is strictly prohibited under the law.
