Andhun Hussain reprimands Cabinet: Serve capably or go home!

South Henveiru MP Hussain Shaheem.

South Henveiru MP Hussain Shaheem (Adhun Hussain) has said that Ministers who are not capable of getting things accomplished "should go home".

The MP was speaking at the parliament session held today when he said that Ministers "should not be holding their tails in their hands" when the President orders something to be done. This was not something that the parliament would stand for, according to the MP.

"When huge incidents of fire happen and leave 400 people homeless, the mega-companies of the government were sitting idle. Some of them were even clapping. It's been 15 days and the area has still not been cleaned up,

The President ordered the chemical storage facilities to be moved out of Male' within two months, and that should happen. If they can't make it happen, they should not remain where they are. They should be staying at home." The deputy leader of MDP PG said.

"When the President ordered for adequate shelters to be provided, that should happen. The Ministers that cant makes that happen should go home" the MP went on.

The MP also stated that the cabinet was composed of Ministers from the coalition parties and that these Ministers should try to hold back the government of President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih. He also stated that the Parliament would not stand by idly for this.

Warnings to the coalition parties by Adhun!

What seemed to be a thinly veiled attack on Jumhooree Party leader, Qasim Ibrahim, Adhun stated that those vying to create rifts between President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and Speaker of Parliament Mohamed Nasheed should be stopped.

"This is pointless work. The work by other party leaders to create issues between Speaker Nasheed and President Solih. MDP podiums are on every island, and there are more things that MDP can say. There are more things that the MDP President can say, more things that the Speaker of the Parliament can say. We will not stand by and watch," said Adhun.

Adhun also stated that second thoughts might have to be given to the share of the government allocated to coalition parties by MDP.

"We are not completely satisfied. The share given to coalition parties is too much. We (MPs and Party councilors) might have to recommend to the President to rethink the powers allocated to the coalition parties. So I would ask those (coalition parties) to take a step back." said Adhun.
