The police have launched an investigation into the abduction of a migrant worker in Maldives.

The migrant worker, a 34-year-old Bangladeshi citizen, was reported missing to the police at 2:46 pm on Saturday.

A police spokesperson told Sun this Monday that the agency had launched a search and rescue operation as soon as he was reported missing, and but the migrant worker managed to singlehandedly evade his abductors on Sunday.

“He escaped his abductors and came to the [Maldives Police] Service to informed us of the details,” said the spokesperson.

The abduction is under investigation by the police, but no arrests have been made, as of yet.
