Bangladeshi citizen arrested for sexual assault of young girl

A Bangladeshi citizen has been arrested for trespassing into a private residence in Male’ City and sexually assaulting a young girl.

The case was reported to the police at approximately 7 pm on Tuesday.

A police spokesperson reported to Sun that the suspect, identified as a 47-year-old Bangladeshi male, has been arrested.

“The court has remanded the 47-year-old foreigner arrested in connection to the case for 10 days,” said the spokesperson.

The case is under further investigation by the police.

284 cases of sexual abuse and sexual harassment have been reported to the police so far this year. This includes 27 cases reported in August, and four cases reported so far this September.
